The new Toyota Supra is currently being developed in Germany with the assistance of BMW designers and engineers. The two automakers teamed up to create this uber-sporty ride. The BMW version of the vehicle will be the Z4. Toyota’s version is the 2019 Supra. The Supra is a coupe while the Z4 is a convertible. The Supra’s exterior is fairly similar to previous incarnations. It draws significant influence from the Toyota FT-1 Concept. Let’s take a look at what we know about the Supra’s interior to give car-seekers some insight as to what it will be like to sit in the driver’s seat of the gorgeous sports car.

Information About the 2019 Supra is Slowly Emerging

Plenty of camouflaged images of the Supra’s exterior have made their way to the Internet across the past couple of months. The sleuths who have snapped shots of the vehicle’s exterior have also nabbed a few images of the vehicle’s interior. The initial images show the new Supra’s interior is fairly similar to that of the BMW Z4.

Some have described the new Supra as a coupe version of the BMW Z4. However, the Supra has distinct interior and exterior styling along with a unique engine. The interior of the Supra is upscale, similar to a luxury BMW vehicle. The dashboard, knobs, switches, buttons, shifter and steering wheel are sourced from BMW parts. Though there is a Toyota badge on the steering wheel somewhat hidden beneath a few layers of tape, this initial version is for production purposes. The steering wheel looks to be completely unique as its initial aesthetics do not compare to any other BMW or Toyota vehicle currently on the market. It is not yet known if the seats will also mimic those in the Z4. Initial pictures have been strictly limited to the steering wheel, console and dashboard.

It is known that the new Supra will feature an automatic transmission. The BMW shifter seen through the window features the exact same knob as used on BMW’s iDrive infotainment system. There is still some question as to whether Supra buyers will have the option of adding a manual transmission. Though it is unlikely that the new Supra will be available with a manual transmission, Toyota engineers have not yet shut the door on the idea.

The Supra’s Similarity to the Z4

The similarities between the new Supra and the BMW Z4 should be embraced by auto-seekers. The Z4’s interior is incredibly upscale. Though Toyota vehicles certainly have lovely interiors, most consider BMWs to be a notch above most of the competition. In a nutshell, the new Supra interior is best described as the ideal blend of luxury and sporty.

When Will We Find out More About the new Toyota Supra?

It appears as though we will have to wait until the fall to learn more about the latest edition of the Supra. The vehicle will make its debut at some point in 2018 as it is a 2019 model.
